MILFORD - The wonderful holiday season is now behind us. We celebrated with a delicious luncheon at the Oak Tree Inn in Port Jervis, NY. To top it off, musician Tiny provided us with some great music. Some of us were lucky enough to win door prizes. There were lots of them. The hours just passed too quickly. Isn't it always that way when you're having fun.
It was back to business on Wednesday, Jan 22 when the Milford Golden Age Club held their first meeting of the year. We had a great turnout in spite of the extremely cold weather. Guess we are all starting to develop Cabin Fever. Speaking of Cabin Fever, our annual Cabin Fever luncheon will take place on Wednesday, March 26 at noon (one hour earlier than our usual meeting time). further details will be given at our February meeting.
On Feb. 13 a Valentine's party will be held at the Senior Center in Blooming Grove. Call the Office for the Aging at 570-775-5550 for reservations.
The cruise to Bermuda is June 1 to 8. You can still sign up. Contact Mary Jane (570-223-1246). A day trip is planned to see John Davidson on May 1. The price is $35 per person. This includes a buffet lunch. the bus will be extra. Further details will be given at the February meeting.
Most of us are aware of the recent strikes by doctors due to the high cost of their medical malpractice insurance. Contact your legislators with your thoughts in regard to this.
We are trying to compile an updated list of our members. Please give Norma your information. This can be a mailing label. Be sure to give us your birth date too. You don't have to give the year, but anyone who admits to being 85 or older gets a free dinner when we celebrate our anniversary in May. We all are blessed to be able to do all the things we can.
The self-contained music machine designed by Tiny himself responds comically to the name of Charley, and has an amazing array of electronic and computerized devices.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. Plan to stay after the meeting to play cards or games. Some of us play Pokeno, Rummikub, thirteen, and pinochle. Perhaps you have a favorite game you could teach the rest of us.
The meeting will be canceled if Delaware Valley Schools are closed because of the weather. Listen to your local TV or radio station for information regarding the school closings.
The 2003 schedule of meetings are the fourth Wednesday of every month, except where noted: Jan 22, Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, May 28 (May 1, John Davidson Dinner show), June 25 (June 1 to 8 - Bermuda Cruise), July 23, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 22 (Installation Dinner - date TBA), Nov. 19 (one week earlier because of Thanksgiving), Dec. no meeting.
